The Essence of Taiwan: Lukang Ancient Town Deep Dive

A full-day immersion in Taiwan's best-preserved old town — the 'Forbidden City of Taiwan' temple, winding merchant lanes, master craftsmen, and street flavours older than the republic.

Before Taipei existed, there was Lukang. In the 18th century this harbour town was Taiwan's window to the world, and its temples, guild halls and brick lanes still remember. With your guide you'll read the carvings of Longshan Temple — the 'Forbidden City of Taiwan' — thread the Nine-Turns Lane built against pirates and winter winds, meet craftsmen shaping dough figurines and tin ware as their great-grandfathers did, and eat your way through a heritage of oyster fritters, mian-cha and ox-tongue pastries.
