Walk the mountains with an Atayal hunter — traps and tracking, archery, fire-making, and a tribal meal cooked the ancestors' way in a valley above Guguan.

The Atayal people have read these mountains for centuries. In Songhe, a riverside community above Guguan's hot springs, tribal hunters open their trails to travellers who come with respect. Your host demonstrates the hunter's craft — snares, tracking signs, the bow, fire without matches — and shares the forest knowledge behind them: which plants heal, which bind, which feed. The day closes around a bamboo-tube feast and stories of the rainbow bridge.

Yes — ages 6 and up love it. Archery and fire-making are supervised one-on-one, and the trail walk is moderate.

What language does the guide speak?

All tours are led in English by licensed local guides. Mandarin is available on request, and Japanese/Korean-speaking guides can be arranged for private groups with advance notice.

What happens if it rains?

Tours run rain or shine — Taiwan's mists are part of its soul. For typhoon warnings or unsafe conditions we will contact you to reschedule or refund in full.
